Novel Shirley
''The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time'' is a 2003 mystery novel by British
writer Mark Haddon. The hero is Christopher John Francis Boone, a fifteen-year-old boy with an
autistic spectrum condition, lives in Swindon England with his father. He describes him as '' a
mathematician with some behavioral difficulties''. He discovers the body of his neighbor's dog,
Wellington. Then, he decides to investigate the dog's death by himself. However, the investigations are
tough because of Christopher's fears and difficulties facing the world around him. He writes down the
whole adventure process in a book: ''a murder mystery novel.'' During his investigation, Christopher
meets many persons who live on the same street but never notice before. Finally, he knows that the
murderer is his father and know another mystery about his mother. He goes to London on his own to
find his mother according to her the address on his mother's letter after a short fighting with his father.
In the end, Christopher found his mother and lives with her. His father want to rebuild trust with him
but Christopher can't forgive him. The book ends with Christopher optimistic about his future.
